As part of our regular "We Are!" feature, we recognize six Penn Staters who have gone above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form.
This week, we'd like say thank you on behalf of the entire University community to:
Mary Jane Smith, of the College of Engineering, whose nominator wrote: "MJ Smith performs beyond the normal expectations of a staff member. She has an unfailing desire to support the faculty, staff and students in chemical engineering. She is amazingly calm and efficient among piles of paperwork. She possesses a high level of policy awareness, procedural competence and management skills."
Kate Twoey, of World Campus, whose nominator wrote: "Kate is such an awesome co-worker. She is always so upbeat, and brings joy with her wherever she goes. She is an excellent trainer and communicator. World Campus Learning Design is lucky to have such an awesome employee. I know that I can always rely on Kate to help me with anything!"
AJ Downey, of Penn State Brandywine, whose nominator wrote: "AJ provides critical staff assistance for our Sustainable Communities Collaborative grant. For the past year, she has assisted with all logistics working on and off campus with our community partners. AJ’s professionalism and enthusiasm is excellent support for the grant and Penn State's land-grant mission!"
Karen Mozley-Bryan, of the Bellisario College of Communications, whose nominator wrote: "Karen gets the job done. Whatever it is, she can make it happen. And, she does it with a smile. She is organized, friendly, efficient and the greatest of problem-solvers. We're going through a lot of changes and renovations, and she's on top of it all. 'We are' in love with her can-do spirit."
Suzzanne Clapper, of World Campus, whose nominator wrote: "Suzzanne has been a wonderful mentor! She is one of those supervisors that you could only be so lucky to have. She is motivating and encouraging to her employees and team. She goes above and beyond, even if that means more work for herself. Thanks so much Suzzanne for all you do!"
Renea Nichols, of the Bellisario College of Communications, whose nominators wrote that she is an "amazing instructor who cares about the success of everyone in her class," and "She is so kind and helpful and one amazing teacher. She really makes the content interesting. She also really cares about her students."
