UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — University Health Services (UHS), a unit of Penn State Student Affairs, has achieved full reaccreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care Inc. (AAAHC).
Accreditation is reviewed every three years and is bestowed upon organizations that are able to prove their adherence to AAAHC policies and procedures through both a written application and intensive on-site survey. The survey assesses hundreds of standards related to patient care, quality improvement, staff credentialing, and risk management, among others.
The 2018 survey produced excellent ratings for UHS in all areas.
“We are delighted to receive AAAHC reaccreditation for another three years and look forward to providing continued, quality service to the Penn State community,” said Dr. Robin Oliver-Veronesi, senior director of University Health Services. “Accreditation serves as a testament to the hours of hard work and dedication our staff puts forward to best serve our students.”
University Health Services, located in the Student Health Center at University Park employs more than 20 board-certified clinicians in addition to a team of well-qualified support staff. UHS offers medical services, a full on-site pharmacy, physical therapy, imaging, lab services and emergency medical services to all Penn State students and spouses of students enrolled in the Penn State Student Health Insurance Plan. The health center is open weekdays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with adjusted hours on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care is a private, nonprofit organization formed in 1979. The organization serves as a leader in developing standards to advance and promote patient safety, quality care, and value for ambulatory health care through peer-based accreditation processes, education and research. The organization currently accredits more than 6,000 health care organizations.
