Changes to parking deck operations at University Park to begin week of Aug. 13

All entry and exit gates at the East, HUB and Nittany decks will remain down 24 hours a day, seven days a week. UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Transportation Services will be implementing several operational changes at its gated parking facilities at University Park — the East, HUB and Nittany decks — beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 13.

These changes include:

Customer support will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by pressing the assistance button located on all in-lane and pay-on-foot machines. Support staffing during overnight and weekend hours will be provided via new video conferencing equipment attached to each in-lane and pay-on-foot machine. This service will provide enhanced customer support and safety for those parked in the East, HUB and Nittany decks during evening and weekend hours.

All entry and exit gates at the East, HUB and Nittany decks will remain down 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This change will provide Transportation Services with more accurate data related to facility usage, which will assist with event and maintenance planning, permit allocation, and other department needs. Visitors entering the East, HUB or Nittany decks will be required to take an entry ticket during all hours, including weekends. When ready to exit, visitors should submit their ticket at one of the pay-on-foot stations to determine if payment is required for any time parked during reserved hours. Upon return of the ticket, visitors will submit the paid or authorized ticket at one of the in-lane exit machines to exit the deck. The only change for faculty/staff and student permit holders will be the need to scan their permit for entry and exit during all hours, including weekends. There will be no change to the evening and weekend access associated with faculty/staff and student permits.

Any hours parked in these facilities between 6 a.m. and midnight, Monday through Friday, will require a valid permit or payment of the hourly parking fee, regardless of the time that the vehicle enters or exits the deck. All faculty/staff and student permits will continue to be valid at the East, HUB and Nittany decks on weekdays from 4 p.m. through 7:30 a.m. the following day and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of no student parking between 2 and 4 a.m., seven days a week. For example, a visitor who parks at the East Deck from 2 p.m. Friday through 2 p.m. Sunday will be required to pay the $10 fee for hours parked from 2 p.m. through midnight Friday.

The maximum daily parking rate for visitors will remain the same at $12; the lost ticket fee will increase to $18.
