Variety of computer courses scheduled at Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — For those looking to sharpen their computer skills while learning something new, Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a number of easy-to-learn computer courses this fall.

The courses are taught by qualified instructors in a relaxed computer-classroom environment, allowing participants to learn, experiment and ask questions. Courses are hands-on, with each participant working at a computer station.

Offerings include:

QuickBooks Level 1
6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 19 and 26

New users will be introduced to the features of QuickBooks accounting software. Those who are familiar with QuickBooks will learn the new features and functionality of this version. Gain knowledge of company setup, work with lists, set up inventory, sell your product, invoice for services, process payments, work with bank accounts, and enter and pay bills.

QuickBooks Level 2
6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 10 and 17

Continue to learn the powerful features of QuickBooks. Participants will learn to memorize transactions, customize forms, use other QuickBooks accounts, create and customize reports and graphs, track and pay sales tax, and prepare payroll with QuickBooks.

Excel Level 1
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, or Thursday, Nov. 1

Gain the skills necessary to create basic worksheets, perform calculations, modify and format worksheets, and manage and print workbooks.

Excel Level 2
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, or Wednesday, Nov. 14

Designed for those desiring to gain the advanced skill sets necessary for calculating data using functions and formulas, sorting and filtering data, visualizing data using charts, using PivotTables and PivotCharts for analyzing data, and customizing workbooks.

Excel Level 3
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28

Delve into some of the more specialized and advanced capabilities of Excel. Topics include working with multiple workbooks, lookup functions, sharing and protecting workbooks, and automating workbook functionality using macros.

OneNote
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10

Learn to create, organize and share your notes and information with others. Topics include creating a notebook; entering, formatting and organizing notes; creating templates; and integrating with other applications.

Photoshop
6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 11 through Nov. 8

Learn to use the powerful tools for selecting parts of images and moving, duplicating and resizing images. Other topics include using layers and applying layer effects and filters to create special effects, including lighting and texture effects. Use painting tools and blending modes to create shading effects and learn to perform adjustments to contrast and color balance.
