New Kensington athletics updates for the week of April 9

Softball picks up split against Beaver

The Penn State New Kensington softball team (1-9, 1-3 PSUAC) traded 10-5 wins with Penn State Beaver (9-9, 2-2 PSUAC) on April 6. In game one, Beaver took an early lead and held on en route to their 10-5 victory. In game two, New Kensington took control offensively, benefiting from six team doubles and a home run from sophomore Morgan Williams. Junior Erika Finn had a standout performance for the day going 6-for-7 with five doubles and scoring three runs. Williams had three hits and drove in three runs. Freshman Amanda Dynoske and junior Brittney Wolford also had three hits each.

Baseball provides offense, but loses three games to Beaver

Penn State New Kensington (1-10, 0-7 PSUAC) faced Penn State Beaver (4-7, 3-0 PSUAC) in a three-game baseball series. On April 6, the team traveled to Beaver and lost both games of a double header, 6-5 and 10-2. In game one, freshman Alex Polka had three runs batted in on two hits. For the day, sophomore Jake Stackiewicz had two doubles and triple, while junior Vinny Ribar had three hits and two stolen bases. The series completed on April 8 with an 11-8 Beaver victory. Freshman Michael Dauer had three hits and two RBI, while Ribar had three stolen bases to go along with three hits.
