New Kensington's Broadwater named a USCAA second team All-American

Senior becomes first New Kensington men's basketball player to be honored as All-American since 2007

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Penn State New Kensington's Dorian Broadwater (Homestead, Pennsylvania/Steel Valley) was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American second team, the organization announced recently. Broadwater is New Kensington's first men's basketball player to be honored as an All-American since Jeremy Hurt in 2007. 

The senior guard also was previously chosen for the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) All-Conference second team.

Broadwater finished the season ranked fourth nationally in the USCAA in points per game with 22.3 and eighth in free throw percentage with 83 percent. These marks were good for second and fifth in the PSUAC, respectively. He netted a career-high 40 points on Feb. 2 against Penn State Greater Allegheny and scored more than 30 points three more times. On Jan. 23, Broadwater scored his 1,000th career point against Penn State Beaver. 

Broadwater led New Kensington in points (445) and 3-point percentage (34.3). He was also tied for first in 3-pointers (35), second in steals (27), and third in assists (32).

Broadwater is the first men's basketball player to be honored as an All-American since Jeremy Hurt in 2007.
