Labor and employment relations students to spend Spring Break in Silicon Valley

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A group of 15 students will be traveling to Silicon Valley over their Spring Break as a part of the travel embedded course on human resource management in the technology industry offered by the School of Labor and Employment Relations. Based on the highly positive reactions of students last year, this is the second time that this intensive course is being offered during the spring semester.

The students learn about human resource management in the tech industry and then get a first-hand experience with a visit to major technology companies in Silicon Valley, including conversations with managers in companies such as Apple, Google, Uber, Netflix and Box. Students have received financial support from the Office of Career Enrichment and School of Labor and Employment Relations.

The group will be accompanied by associate professor Sumita Raghuram and career and recruitment coordinator, Jessica Steele.
