Centre Dimensions Jazz Ensemble to perform annual Mardi Gras concert

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's premier jazz ensemble, Centre Dimensions, will perform its annual Mardi Gras concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, in the State Theatre, located at 130 W. College Ave. in State College. The concert will also include the Penn State Jazz Faculty Combo. From ragtime to blues and dixieland to big band jazz, join these ensembles for a wonderful night of New Orleans jazz, blues, funk and so much more. Centre Dimensions is led by Penn State director of jazz studies Marko Marcinko.

Tickets are available for purchase at the State Theatre box office or online at thestatetheatre.org. Ticket prices are general, $8.50 (+$1.50 facilities fee); students with ID, $3.50 (+$1.50 facilities fee).This concert is available on livestream at the Penn State School of Music.

Centre Dimensions, the premier 20-piece jazz ensemble at Penn State, performs frequently on campus and tours throughout Pennsylvania and the East. In addition, Centre Dimensions performs and works with several internationally known artists each year. Previous guests have included Phil Woods (sax), Cyrus Chesnut (piano), Bob Mintzer (sax), Wycliffe Gordon (trombone), George Rabbai (trumpet, vocals), Dennis Diblasio (bari. sax), Lynn Seaton (bass), and Slide Hampton (trombone). They perform a challenging repertoire of modern and classic jazz, as well as originals written by the director. This highly selective ensemble is open by audition to undergraduate and graduate students in all majors.
