WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering a course to help high school students better prepare for the standardized test used as an admissions tool by many institutions of higher learning.
The course will guide students toward success on the SAT through live instruction, self-paced learning and individual interaction with a professional instructor. The focus will be on math, English and reading, with an optional writing session available for those who wish to review and practice their college-ready skills with a Penn College faculty member.
Scheduled from 2 to 5 p.m. on seven consecutive Sundays from March 11 through April 29 — ending in advance of the May 5 and June 2 testing dates — the course will provide 12 hours of math preparation (March 11 and 25, and April 15 and 29) and nine hours devoted to English and reading (March 18, and April 8 and 22).
The optional writing segment will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. following each of the three English and reading sessions.
Math will be taught by Ellen M. Dunkleberger, a noncredit instructor/trainer for WDCE; the English, reading and writing sessions will be conducted by Bruce A. Wehler, assistant professor of English composition in the college’s School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications.
The cost is $279 for math, English and reading; the three hours of writing instruction carry an additional $49 fee.
