An award-winning alumna who works for CBS Sports covering major events all over the world as a TV director and producer will return to Penn State in mid-February for a free public session coordinated by the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.

“A Conversation with Deb Gelman,” a moderated question-and-answer session, will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 in Foster Auditorium of Paterno Library on the University Park campus.

Gelman, who earned her broadcast-cable degree in 1991, is a producer/director for CBS Sports. She has covered college basketball and the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, the NFL, tennis and many other sports. She had produced live events as well as feature segments.

An Emmy Award-winning talent, Gelman also serves as president of Creative Spark Productions.

The Conversation Series regularly features some of the biggest names in sports and sports media discussing topical matters of interest. Along with a Q&A led by John Affleck, the Knight Chair in Sports Journalism and Society and director of the Curley Center, the format encourages questions from the audience.

The event is co-sponsored by the Curley Center and University Libraries.
