Study seeks parents of babies treated in neonatal intensive-care unit

HERSHEY, Pa. -- The Department of Pediatrics at Penn State College of Medicine is looking for volunteers for a research study on how parents cope with stress following their infant’s discharge from the neonatal intensive-care unit (NICU).

The research team is looking for healthy adult volunteers over the age of 18 who are the parent of a former preterm infant hospitalized in the NICU within the past 18 months. The volunteers must have parental custody of the infant and be fluent in written and spoken English. Volunteers will be asked to take part in noninvasive stress monitoring, submit three saliva samples, answer questions, and have their facial expressions videotaped.

In all, the study should take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete. Compensation will be provided.
