UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The College of Education's Alumni Society Board is seeking nominations for its annual awards. The awards recognize graduates and friends of the college who have distinguished themselves in their profession and have continued to support the college and University.
The awards are:
— Alumni Excellence Award: the highest honor given to College of Education alumni. It is awarded to recognize career-long, sustained excellence of contribution and achievement to the nominee's chosen profession;
— Outstanding Teaching Award: an award that recognizes alumni who are classroom teachers displaying overall excellence in teaching methodologies, knowledge of the subject matter and the ability to inspire students;
— Leadership and Service Award: an award acknowledging alumni who have distinguished themselves in their chosen profession, in or out of the field of education. Recipients are selected based on leadership and service within a career, community or to society in general;
— Outstanding New Graduate Award: an award that recognizes recent graduates (graduated within the past five years) who have distinguished themselves in their new career, in or out of the field of education; and
— Service to Penn State Award: an award that honors alumni and friends who have made significant contributions of time and talent to the College of Education and/or the University.
Those wishing to nominate an individual must download a nomination form available at https://ed.psu.edu/alumni-friends/award/alumni-society-awards. Nominations for the 2018 awards must be submitted by Jan. 31 to Wanda Wasilko at wlw2@psu.edu. Nominations received after the deadline will be considered for the following year's awards.
Award recipients are selected by the College of Education's Alumni Society Board committees and are announced each spring. Recipients are officially honored at a recognition dinner held during the fall semester at the Nittany Lion Inn.
