Crutchfield selected as senior director for business intelligence

Later this month, Jon Crutchfield will join Penn State Information Technology (IT) as the new senior director for business intelligence. In his new role, Crutchfield will focus on establishing and implementing a strategy and an appropriate set of technology resources to enhance the University’s use of data for reporting, assessment, strategic insight and differentiation.

Crutchfield’s prior experience includes serving as the director of IT for the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame. As director, Crutchfield developed a comprehensive campus-wide mobile strategy and oversaw the development of a cloud-hosted infrastructure to deliver data and visualization tools to students.

“I am looking forward to welcoming Jon to Penn State,” said Michael Kubit, vice president for information technology and chief information officer. “Jon is a highly collaborative leader, who will bring valuable experience engaging with students, faculty and staff members to develop future campus-wide strategies and programs. Jon’s expansive knowledge of developing technology for higher education will help us focus on the University’s academic, research and service mission.”

Crutchfield received his master of business administration from Notre Dame and has served as the co-director of the EDUCAUSE Learning Technology Leadership Institute. He will be joining the team of IT senior directors on Jan. 29.
