HERSHEY, Pa. — Millions more people are considered to have high blood pressure due to new guidelines released recently. Dr. Steven Ettinger, an interventional cardiologist at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, says the new guidance is a step in the right direction.

“It really allows the individual with hypertension to take better control of their health and welfare and not just to leave it in the hands of their healthcare provider,” Ettinger says.

In this video, Ettinger explains the significance of the new guidelines — and the role of lifestyle changes and medication in mitigating high blood pressure.
