Liberal Arts student attends Student Conference on U.S. Affairs

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Ethan Paul, a senior majoring in economics, attended the Student Conference on U.S. Affairs at West Point in November. In a post for the McCourtney Institute for Democracy's blog, Paul reflected on his experience at the conference, and the military's ability to criticize those in power and how that reflects on democracy.

Last summer, Paul participated in the McCourtney Institute's Nevins Fellows program, which provides funding for students to complete internships at organizations that work to promote democracy. He interned at the Close-Up Foundation, where he worked to increase civic engagement among young people.
