UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State volleyball saw senior middle blocker Haleigh Washington earn College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District on Thursday afternoon. First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
Washington has been named to the Academic All-District team for the third straight year as the philosophy major has maintained a 3.79-grade point average over her time at Penn State. In the 2015 campaign, Washington earned Academic All-America Second Team honors and was an Academic All-America Third Team honoree in 2016.
On the court, Washington has helped lead the Nittany Lions to a 26-1 record so far this season, and are currently the nation’s unanimous No. 1 in the poll. Washington is averaging 3.01 kills with the nation’s best hitting percentage of .515. She also averages 1.49 blocks per set, which is 12th in the nation.
