UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — A summer tour wasn’t enough for Straight No Chaser. After releasing the “Six Pack: Volume 3” EP in July, the nine-member vocal ensemble embarked on its “Speakeasy Tour” with a cappella versions of rock and pop hits by Beyoncé, Eurythmics, Fitz and the Tantrums, and more. The singers will maintain the buzz when “The Speakeasy Tour” comes to Penn State for a 7:30 p.m. concert on Wednesday, April 11, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

Straight No Chaser formed in 1996 at Indiana University and was comprised of members of the Singing Hoosiers. Ten years later, a 1998 video of the vocalists’ mashup version of “The 12 Days of Christmas” — also featuring touches of “I Have a Little Dreidel” and “Africa” by Toto — found its way to YouTube and now boasts more than 19 million views. The singers have built on their reputation as an extraordinary live act and blend tongue-in-cheek humor with serious vocal chops.

BRE Presents brings the ensemble’s “Speakeasy Tour” to Penn State. Tickets for Straight No Chaser are nonrefundable and may not be exchanged for tickets to a Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State presentation.
