Duo named CoSIDA Academic All-District

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Emily Ogle and Megan Schafer have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Two First Team, as announced on Thursday. First Team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.

This is the first CoSIDA Academic All-District Two First Team plaudit for both Ogle and Schafer.

In the classroom, Ogle has a 3.99 grade-point average (GPA) as a kinesiology major, while Schafer has a 3.71 GPA as a communication science and disorders major.

Ogle, a redshirt junior midfielder, has started all 20 matches and has 11 points on four goals and three assists in 2017. During her time as a Nittany Lion, Ogle has started 71-of-71 matches, has scored 14 goals and tallied 14 assists. The 2015 season saw Ogle garner Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors.

Schafer, a senior forward, has started all 20 matches in 2017, and has 13 points on five goals and three assists this season. In her career donning the Blue & White, she has played in 92 matches, which includes 73 starts, scored 30 goals, and recorded 17 assists. For her work in the classroom, Schafer is a two-time recipient of Academic All-Big Ten and Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors.
