Penn State ranks in top 0.3 percent in 2017 CWUR World University Rankings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State ranks in the top 0.3 percent degree-granting higher education institutions worldwide in the 2017 Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), released today (Oct. 16). Penn State ranks at No. 58 worldwide, and No. 36 among U.S. schools.

CWUR evaluated 27,770 degree-granting institutions of higher education worldwide, among which the top 1000 research-intensive institutions received rankings.

According to CWUR, the rankings include eight indicators that measure the quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty members and the quality of their research, without relying on surveys and university data submissions.

Earlier in the year, CWUR released their world rankings by subject, with Penn State appearing in the top ten in the subjects of audiology and speech-language pathology (8); business (7); communication (9); family studies (1); hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism (10); linguistics (7); materials science, ceramics (4); physiology (6); psychology, applied (6); psychology, biological (7); psychology, educational (8); and sociology (1).
