Timothy Ray Brown, the world's first and only person cured of HIV, will discuss his cure during a talk titled "The Personification of Hope" at 6 p.m. Nov. 1, in Heritage Hall, HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus of Penn State.
Brown, who is often referred to as "the Berlin patient" by researchers, will discuss the hope his cure provides to people living with HIV and his role as an accidental AIDS icon.
The event is sponsored by AIDS Resource, Caring Communities, Penn State Student Affairs and LGBTQA Student Resource Center, and co-sponsored by Penn State's Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equity.
