UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State Health Promotion and Wellness is teaming with Penn State Campus Recreation to host the 5th annual Extreme Stater outdoor adventure race Oct. 14.

The race, to be held at Stone Valley Recreation Area, is open to all University Park undergraduate and graduate students. It features a challenging 3-4 mile course that incorporates running, climbing, canoeing, team obstacles and extreme encounters. It is designed to test students’ physical and mental abilities outside of the classroom and promote creative problem-solving and teamwork strategies in fun and interactive ways.

“Extreme Stater summons students to push their physical boundaries while having fun and strengthening friendships,” said Erin Raupers, assistant director, Health Promotion and Wellness. “This year’s course provides students with plenty of opportunity for enjoyment, excitement and success.”

Competing teams must consist of four members, two male and two female. Interested students should note that there are limited spots available, and only the first 25 teams will be admitted. Registration forms will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

The cost of registration is $25 per student, totaling $100 for each team. Registration is now open, and all entries must be received by Sept. 26.

To participate, students should complete the online Team Registration Form, and submit the form, along with payment, to 201 Student Health Center between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Additional questions can be directed by email to extremestater@gmail.com.
