Africana Research Center calls for proposals for student grants

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Africana Research Center (ARC) is offering up to $1,500 to students whose research supports the ARC’s mission.

The ARC provides monetary support for scholars whose primary research centers on the African Diaspora. The center’s mission is to encourage and support research and scholarship that enhances the lives of Africans across Africa and the African Diaspora, and serves as a catalyst for promoting an enabling environment where cultural production and discourse on diversity can be nurtured to advance the research, teaching and outreach mission of Penn State.

The ARC encourages the development of projects in the areas of health, education, technology, environmental justice, and cultural or racial identity issues across Africa and the African Diaspora. The center strongly encourages the development of interdisciplinary work between the social sciences and the sciences.

Grant proposals must be received by Oct. 16, and awards will be made by Dec. 1.
