Penn State Schuylkill ranks as 'Best Bang for the Buck' among northeast colleges

Campus among Top 25 in Washington Monthly NE college rankings

SCHUYLKILL HAVEN, Pa. — The Washington Monthly College Rankings have recognized Penn State Schuylkill as a top “Best Bang for the Buck” school among Northeast Colleges, in their 2017 college guide. Moving up 12 places from last year’s rankings to No. 22, Penn State Schuylkill is the top public institution in Pennsylvania within this category among 385 Northeastern colleges.

“Penn State Schuylkill consistently ranks as a strong value and reinforces our goals of accessibility and affordability while providing an unparalled education with a focus on academic excellence, experiential learning and community and civic engagement,” said Darcy Medica, interim chancellor of Penn State Schuylkill.

The methodology for “Best Bang for the Buck” rankings includes specific criteria, such as graduation rate rank, net price of attendance, loan repayment rank, and percentage of Pell recipients and first-generation students.

According to the Washington Monthly, the “Best Bang for the Buck” Colleges listing is their list of schools that help students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.

Harvard University and Amherst College ranked one and two respectively for “Best Bang for the Buck” in the Northeast region.
