Student volunteers needed for conduct boards; gain leadership skills by serving

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Students can gain leadership skills and grow their resume by serving on a board with the Office of Student Conduct, a unit of Penn State Student Affairs. The Office of Student Conduct is currently accepting applicants for the University Conduct Board (UCB) and the Student Organization Conduct Committee (SOCC).

The UCB and SOCC consist of a faculty or staff chairperson and additional faculty, staff and student members. The boards hear cases related to alleged University code of conduct violations for individual students or organizations.

In addition to leadership skills, students who serve on a conduct board gain valuable critical thinking and reasoning skills and help to make the campus community a better place.

Student members will be asked to complete 10 hours of training on related topics in addition to being available for conduct boards throughout the year. Training dates for fall are set for Sept. 15 and 19. These dates are subject to change and volunteers will be expected to attend one of these sessions. If a student is interested but unable to attend one of these dates, they should still apply as later training dates may be added.

To learn more or apply to serve on the UCB and/or the SOCC, contact Meg Brower, assistant director with the Office of Student Conduct, at meh182@psu.edu or 814-863-0342.
