UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — "SEEP," a group exhibition presenting 11 contemporary artists from across the country whose work engages with water, will be on display Aug. 24 to Sept. 30 in the Woskob Family Gallery in State College.

Curated by gallery director Ann Tarantino, the exhibition explores water from diverse viewpoints — as a medium for art-making, a springboard for exploring social justice issues, or as a metaphor for unknowable terrain. An opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24.

"SEEP" features the work of artists Micaela Amateau Amato, Caetlynn Booth, Rob Carter, Ken Fandell, Bonnie Levinthal, Bethany Johnson, Giulia Piera Livi, Patrick McDonough, John Peña, Joseph Smolinski, and Jenna Spevack. An abridged version of the exhibition made its debut at the Arlington Arts Center in Arlington, Virginia, in March 2017.

In addition to the works on view, the Woskob Family Gallery will host a water-marbling demonstration and workshop from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 1, as part of downtown State College’s First Friday event. In collaboration with Penn State’s Hamer Center for Community Design, the gallery will present an off-site installation by landscape architecture doctoral candidate Lacey Goldberg. Additionally, a public conversation between artists Stacy Levy and Eve Mosher will take place at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center.

The Woskob Family Gallery is a contemporary art space located at 146 S. Allen St. in downtown State College that brings a cohesive and carefully curated program of exhibitions and events to central Pennsylvania. Run by Penn State’s College of Arts and Architecture, the gallery serves as a laboratory for exploring how the arts can catalyze creative place-making.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, contact Haley Finnegan, program manager, at hbs131@psu.edu or 814-863-5353, or visit woskobfamilygallery.psu.edu.
