Penn State Honors Music Institute to present final summer 2017 concerts July 22

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Honors Music Institute is an immersion in the art of music-making designed for talented high school students. It offers the opportunity to learn, study and perform with other accomplished student musicians, all under the direction of renowned faculty members from Penn State’s School of Music.

As one of the most exciting summer music camps of 2017, specific areas of study include Chamber Choir, Jazz Combo, Piano, and Wind Ensemble.

Students entering 9th grade in fall 2017 through students who graduated from high school in spring 2017 are eligible to audition. Accepted students participate in masterclasses, private lessons, chamber music, student recitals, and large ensembles.

The final concerts of the Institute will occur on Saturday, July 22 in Esber Recital Hall. All events are free and open to the public.

Chamber Choir, 11 a.m. — conducted by Christopher Kiver

Jazz Combos, 1 p.m. — directed by Marko Marcinko

Wind Ensemble, 3 p.m. — conducted by Dennis Glocke
