Penn State IT names new senior director for strategic operations

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Beginning in July, Jennifer Stedelin will join Penn State as the new senior director for strategic operations in the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology. In her new role, she will focus on business operations, budget, finance, facilities, governance and strategic planning within Penn State IT.

Stedelin brings more than 15 years of experience to the position, most recently as the assistant vice chancellor and deputy chief information officer at Washington University in St. Louis, where she led the redesign of the IT funding model and oversaw the implementation of shared IT services. Before going to Washington University, Stedelin served as chief information officer at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for seven years.

“I am very excited to welcome Jen to Penn State. Her experience and insights will prove highly valuable as we consider the future of information technology in support of the University’s academic, research and service mission,” said Michael Kubit, vice president for information technology and chief information officer. “Jen is an exceptional leader with a passion for higher education. I am very much looking forward to her joining Penn State IT.”

In her new position, Stedelin will collaborate with other IT leaders to create a shared vision for Penn State IT moving forward.

Stedelin received her master of business administration and bachelor of arts in economics from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and she actively volunteered as a member of the Glen Carbon Museum and Historical Commission.
