Program available for children coping with chronic illness

HERSHEY, Pa. — Penn State Children’s Hospital will host a group program for children and adolescents coping with chronic illness.

The eight-week session starts on June 5 and will meet on Mondays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Penn State Medical Group, 22 Northeast Drive in Hershey.

The sessions, led by psychologist Dr. Timothy Zeiger, are designed specifically for children and teenagers (ages 6 to 18) and their families, to help them cope with the stressors of having a chronic condition. Participants will:

  • focus on identifying stressors that can make physical symptoms worse.
  • learn how stress impacts their body and illness.
  • learn how to manage these stressors to help improve overall daily function.

Registration is required. For more information, call 1-800-243-1455 or visit Childrens.PennStateHealth.org/psychiatry.
