Academic symposium to focus on health impacts of fracking

The Penn State Hershey Chapter of Student Physicians for Social Responsibility will host an academic symposium on the health impacts of fracking from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, in Lecture Room D at Penn State College of Medicine.

The symposium will feature the research of Yale's Dr. Nicole Deziel on the carcinogenic nature of the chemicals used in the fracking industry, Johns Hopkins' Dr. Brian Schwartz on the epidemiological data on asthma and fracking drill sites and PSR's Dr. Pouné Sabieri's research on methane gas from the fracking industry and its impact on human health, as it relates to global climate disruption.
