Libraries locations expand hours April 23-May 5, support more late buses

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Pattee Library and Paterno Library are expanding hours and services Sunday, April 23, through 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, on Penn State’s University Park campus to help students with end-of-the-semester research and finals study needs. In addition, the University Libraries and the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology are again co-sponsoring later University Park on-campus bus service Sundays-Wednesdays during the last week of spring classes and finals week.

Nearly all of Pattee and Paterno will open at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 23, for continuous, 24-hour service until closing at 7 p.m. Friday, May 5. The Eberly Special Collections Library will maintain its standard operating hours. Pattee Library and Paterno Library also will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 6, and begin operating under its summer hours starting 1-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 7.

Within the two library buildings a variety of group study rooms for two to 16 people can be reserved. Monitors at the entrances to the building display real-time computer availability.

Coffee and snacks will be provided by the Libraries 3-8 p.m. Sunday, April 30, through Tuesday, May 2, in Mann Assembly Room, 103 Paterno Library, as part of the Libraries’ end-of-semester De-Stress Fest. University Park branch library locations including the Architecture and Landscape Architecture Library, Earth and Mineral Sciences Library, Engineering Library, and Physical and Mathematical Sciences Library also will hold De-Stress Fest events; times and dates may vary. For late-night hunger, MacKinnon’s Café, on ground level west Pattee Library, will be open until 11 p.m. beginning Friday, April 28, and until 1 a.m. Monday, May 1 (overnight Sunday), to 1 a.m. Friday, May 5. The café also will be open 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, May 5, then start summer hours of 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays-Fridays May 8 through Friday, Aug. 11, closed on weekends. Late-night CATA bus service — on campus only — will run until approximately 2:15 a.m. daily April 20-May 6, with the last pickup at the Curtin Road transport station. The extended service those Sundays through Wednesdays is courtesy of the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology and the University Libraries.
