College of Nursing to hold information sessions for second degree option

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Penn State College of Nursing will hold three information sessions on March 14 for college graduates and seniors thinking about a second degree in nursing. The college's second degree option is designed for individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree in another field but have decided to pursue a nursing career.

Sessions will begin at 4, 5 and 6 p.m. in Room 1 on the ground floor of the Nursing Sciences Building on the University Park campus.

The second degree option is an intensive 16-month program offered in a cohort format, with all cohorts beginning in the fall semester. Students must complete all general education requirements and prerequisite course work before beginning the program. Currently, the program is offered at the Altoona and Harrisburg campuses, with clinical experiences taking place at facilities near the campuses.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
