Schreyer Institute to offer free online workshop on flipped classrooms

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Schreyer Institute for Teaching Excellence will present a free online workshop titled “Implications of Flipping” from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, via Zoom meeting (ID: 355309990). The workshop will be repeated from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.

The workshop will discuss potential issues encountered in a flipped classroom environment and offer teaching strategies, including discussion of lesson design, activities and methodology. There will be time dedicated to discussion of personal experiences, and there is also a pre-session assignment to be completed prior to participation.

Before the workshop, participants are asked to:

1. Watch a five-minute video to familiarize themselves with relevant terminology. 

2. Review the flipped lesson planning template and identify one lesson or activity (a flippable moment) in their course or a course that they are working on that could easily adapt to this template.

3. Have this template in hard copy for the meeting.

When entering the Zoom meeting room participants will be asked to use their full name or Penn State user ID so they can receive credit for attending.
