2017 PHRC Housing Conference set for March 1-2

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Housing Research Center (PHRC), housed in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Penn State, will host its 25th Annual PHRC Housing Conference at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, March 1-2.

This event focuses on housing structures and their systems and brings together all sectors of the housing industry including builders, remodelers, code officials, engineers, architects, educators and factory-built housing manufacturers.

This year’s tracks include:

  • A new Multifamily track that includes a session on Penn State Office of the Physical Plant’s Integrated Project Delivery for the new Agricultural Engineering building
  • A Building Science & Technology track with sessions on residential building envelope, lighting and HVAC efficiency
  • A Construction & Management track that includes a session on safety updates OSHA
  • A Building Codes track focusing on details related to code enforcement

Workshops are also offered on March 2 of the conference.

There will also be a 25th Anniversary Reunion reception to celebrate the 25th  anniversary of the PHRC Conference. In addition to conference attendees, past PHRC staff, students and faculty will be in attendance and current students in the National Association of Homebuilders Residential Construction Management Competition and Race to Zero design competition will be recognized at this event.

The keynote speaker this year is Mark Fortney, the current director of building science at Gaco Western and former director of the PHRC.
