UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State President Eric J. Barron will welcome Pennsylvania’s secretary for the Department of Community and Economic Development to discuss the state’s economy and higher education’s role in it during the next episode of WPSU Penn State’s “Digging Deeper.” The show will air at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 on WPSU-TV.

Barron and Dennis Davin, who has led the department since January 2015, will discuss several issues that impact the state’s economy, including the role of agriculture and manufacturing, incentives and benefits that the state can offer businesses, and the future of natural gas and energy industries. The pair will also highlight how universities drive innovation, including Barron’s Invent Penn State initiative.

In addition to the Sunday morning premiere, WPSU Penn State’s “Digging Deeper: Economic Development in Pennsylvania” will air at 6 p.m. on Feb. 12, on WPSU-TV, and at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, on WPSU-FM.

“We want to partner with Penn State and other universities on the initiatives that you folks are involved in right now because of the sheer talent that’s coming out and the opportunities,” Davin says during the episode.

Through Davin’s leadership, the state’s department of community and economic development helps foster opportunities for businesses and communities to grow, while helping improve the quality of life for Pennsylvanians.
