Palmer Museum of Art announces 'The Art of Poetry' spring 2017 readings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Palmer Museum of Art invites museumgoers to surround themselves in visual and verbal imagery at the museum while Penn State poets, storytellers, and other literary friends read their latest work in a feast for the eyes and ears in "The Art of Poetry" spring series.

Keith Gilyard, Edwin Erle Sparks Professor of English and African American Studies, will read at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1.

Phil Terman, professor of English and modern languages at Clarion University, will read at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1.

Ed Ochester, editor of the Pitt Poetry Series, and faculty, Bennington College M.F.A. writing seminars, will read at 12:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5.

The series is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Palmer Museum of Art and the Department of English.

Exhibitions on view at the Palmer Museum of Art this spring are "Eva Watson-Schütze: Pictorialist Portraits," Jan. 10 through April 30; "Morris Blackburn: Prints and Paintings in Process," Jan. 17 through April 30; and "A Kaleidoscope of Color: Studio Glass at the Palmer," Jan. 31 through April 30.

The Palmer Museum of Art at Penn State is located on Curtin Road and admission is free. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. The museum is closed Mondays and some holidays. The museum will have modified hours of noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, through Sunday, March 12. The museum will be closed Sunday, April 16, and Monday, May 1, through Monday, Sept. 4.
