UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Faculty in the Penn State College of the Liberal Arts are invited to nominate deserving undergraduate students in their programs to participate in the 15th annual Undergraduate Research at the Capitol-Pennsylvania (URC-PA) poster conference taking place in the State Capitol Building in Harrisburg on Tuesday, April 25.
URC-PA gives undergraduate students throughout the Commonwealth the opportunity to showcase their research projects to an audience of Pennsylvania legislators. In addition to the scholarly presentations and discussions, students interact with members of state government and, when possible, are invited to visit either the Senate or House Chamber as part of the day’s events.
Although Penn State is limited to eight posters total, nominations from all fields of research are encouraged. Because of the limited number of spaces available to Penn State students, the Penn State Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) will be coordinating the selection, submission and registration of all presentations from the University.
Faculty interested in nominating a student (or students) must submit their nominations via email to Sally Butts at sbg108@psu.edu by noon on Monday, Feb. 13. All nominations must include: 1) the name of the undergraduate student(s); 2) the title of the poster; and, 3) a brief abstract. If the nominating faculty member is not the project adviser, please provide the adviser’s name as well. Late submissions will not be considered, and students and faculty are asked not to contact the event organizers directly.
Students selected to participate will be notified on Wednesday, Feb. 15. OUE will submit the required registrations and abstracts to the Commonwealth and work with the Office of Government and Community Relations to schedule student appointments with their state legislators. Faculty advisers will be invited to attend the event with their students.
