UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State's College of Earth and Mineral Sciences (EMS) Undergraduate Poster Exhibition is a chance for undergraduate students to showcase their research, and connect and share their work with other students, faculty, staff and the public. The exhibition is organized by the college’s Ryan Family Student Center.
Posters will focus on research, experiential learning, creative activity or educational experience relevant to the study of earth and mineral sciences and will be judged based on display, content and oral presentation. The prizes range from $500 for the top-place winner to $100 for the Freshman Award. Volunteer EMS alumni and college faculty will serve as judges.
“This poster exhibition is a chance for EMS undergraduate students to share the results of exciting engaged scholarship activities that build on their foundational classroom learning. They learn how to clearly and concisely present their work and defend these concepts to the judges,” said Yvette Richardson, associate dean of undergraduate education.
Students and attendees also will have an opportunity to vote for the Student Choice Award by casting votes with money for their favorite poster. All funds collected for the Student Choice Award will be donated to an EMS student charity.
The poster exhibition will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 30 in the Deike Building (ground floor) on Penn State’s University Park campus. The event is free and open to the public.
