Multi-platinum record producer brings 'Music 101 College Tour' to Penn State

Multi-platinum record producer Antwan “Amadeus” Thompson, chief executive officer of Platinum Boy Music Inc. and musical director for Trey Songz, will bring his Music 101 College Tour to Penn State from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Smeal College of Business Auditorium. The event will include a panel discussion with professionals from the music industry, moderated by Thompson, and time for networking. It is co-sponsored by the College of Arts and Architecture, Smeal College of Business, and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ENTI) minor.

Thompson, also a professional drummer and motivational speaker, launched the Music 101 College Tour in 2015 in order to educate students on the “ins and outs of the music business.” He said Platinum Boy Music’s mission is to “educate, empower, inspire, and transform the people.”

Thompson, who has been music director and lead drummer for Trey Songz since 2007, has production credits that include ESPN’s “First Take” theme and songs by Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Talib Kweli, Tyga, and Keyshia Cole, among others. He has had motivational speaking engagements at Xavier University, Las Vegas Teen Summit, Berklee College of Music, and other institutions.
