Application period open for Fannie Lou Hamer-W.E.B. DuBois Service Scholarship

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The Forum on Black Affairs at Penn State honors the memory of civil rights leaders Fannie Lou Hamer and W.E.B. DuBois by awarding service scholarships each year.

The application period for the Fannie Lou Hamer-W.E.B. DuBois Service Scholarship is now open. Two scholarships will be awarded — one for $1,000 and one $750. The scholarship recipients will be recognized at the Martin Luther King Jr. Banquet on Jan. 15, 2017.

Applicants must be full-time, degree-seeking undergraduates who have accumulated more than 24 credit hours and are currently enrolled at any Penn State campus and are actively engaged in service to the African-American community. Applicants must also be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student during the spring 2017 semester.

Applications for the scholarship must be submitted by Dec. 10.
