Penn State Smeal names two members to Institute for Real Estate Studies board

The Penn State Smeal College of Business has named two new members to the college’s Institute for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board. New board members include Claudia A. Steeb, managing director at HFF in Pittsburgh, and Jason A. Borrelli, principal at Exeter Property Group in Conshohocken.

“I am pleased to welcome Claudia and Jason to Smeal’s IRES Advisory Board. Claudia and Jason bring a breadth and depth of knowledge that will enrich our discussions and our planning efforts,” said Brent Ambrose, Smeal professor of real estate and director of the Institute for Real Estate Studies.

The board is comprised of business, government and education professionals who have an interest in promoting and financially supporting the real estate programs at Penn State. The board focuses on creating opportunities to enhance student educational experiences and support leading edge research on real estate issues.

Steeb graduated from Penn State in 1981 with a degree in finance. She started her career as an associate with U.S. Steel Corporation. After nearly five years in that position, she served as a senior associate at Lane Noland Smith & Co. for nearly 10 years. Since 1995, she has been managing director at HFF.

Borrelli earned both a bachelor’s in aerospace engineering and an MBA from Penn State. He began his professional life as a mechanical engineer at Einhorn, Yaffe and Prescott. He served as property manager for National Properties Incorporated (NPI) from 1995-2002 and for Liberty Property Trust from 2002-04. For two years prior to the formation of Exeter Property Group, Borrelli served as a partner at NPI.
