'Love is All You Need' concert set for Nov. 13 at Behrend

ERIE, Pa. — For years, the Beatles’ pop ballads, classic rock sounds and psychedelic tunes have left audiences in awe.

Those in attendance at Penn State Behrend’s Chamber Singers and Concert Choir’s fall concert should expect a similar impression.

“Love is All You Need: A Beatles Tribute,” this year’s fall concert from the choir, will be held Sunday, Nov. 13. The concert begins at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Erie, 7th and Sassafras streets. The Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will be joined by The Spectacles, a student women’s ensemble, and guest instrumentalists.

“The music of the Beatles has inspired audiences and artists for more than half a century, and the band’s metamorphosis through its ten-year existence continues to be one of the most remarkable artistic transformations of our time,” said Gabrielle Dietrich, lecturer in music and director of choral ensembles. “The Beatles’ rebellion against the present and familiar and their nostalgia and homage for the past and exotic mingle in this concert’s repertoire.”

The concert will include selections from Bach, a piece from the classical Indian tradition, an Anglican anthem with organ, and music from the English Renaissance. All selections will be linked to famous songs from the Beatles.

Admission to “Love is All You Need: A Beatles Tribute” is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Dietrich at gpd10@psu.edu.
