TV special on protecting children from abuse to air on Oct. 8

“Finding Hope -- Protecting our Children from Abuse,” a special presented by Penn State Children’s Hospital and Penn State Center for the Protection of Children, will air on WPMT-TV (Fox 43) at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8.

Experts from Penn State Children’s Hospital and other agencies will discuss the warning signs of abuse and the need for all members of the community to be able to recognize and report them.

The Center for the Protection of Children offers a variety of clinical services, including examinations and treatment of children who have been abused; mental health treatment for children who have been exposed to traumatic events—such as abuse or neglect; and medical treatment for children who are in out-of-home care (such as foster care). The center also conducts research on issues related to child abuse and neglect.
