Two information sessions planned for Penn State MBA in Pittsburgh

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. — Penn State’s part-time master of business administration degree program in Pittsburgh will host two fall events for prospective students at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Thursday, Oct. 27. Curriculum, course content, credit exemptions, application requirements, financial aid resources, and GMAT preparation will be discussed at information sessions at the Regional Learning Alliance (RLA), located at 850 Cranberry Woods Drive in Cranberry Township.

The Black School of Business at Penn State Behrend offers an AACSB international-accredited flex MBA program in Pittsburgh using a hybrid program of online learning and classroom instruction at the RLA. The degree can be completed in nine semesters; applicants who have completed undergraduate business courses within the past seven years may be eligible for credit exemptions.

Karen Harlan, multimedia specialist at Penn State New Kensington, is a 2015 graduate of the Pittsburgh program. She chose the MBA program because the core courses, like leadership, ethics, marketing, and quantitative analysis, and electives, such as project management and human-computer interaction, were relevant to her current position. She chose the MBA in Pittsburgh program because of its hybrid delivery.

“I was looking for an accredited program in Pittsburgh that was not exclusively online,” said Harlan, a member of the program’s first graduating class. “Since I was already familiar with Penn State’s quality academic programs and wonderful alumni network, enrolling in the Cranberry MBA was an easy decision. Monthly meetings at the RLA allowed me to get to know my classmates, which doesn’t happen in an online-only program.”

Harlan, who holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Penn State, joined the campus community in 2011 and is responsible for a variety of campus initiatives, including building and maintaining the online reputation of the campus through the website and social media content. She also provides design support for web, print and other media.

Penn State’s Pittsburgh-area MBA is offered by Penn State Behrend in partnership with Penn State New Kensington, Penn State Beaver and Penn State Greater Allegheny.
