The Nittany Lion from Penn State Greater Allegheny rocked the house at Vincentian Senior Care Communities’ fifth annual Rocking for Residents on Sept. 17.

Participants helped to raise money by collecting pledges in advance and then spending the afternoon enjoying music, games, food, and rocking on the rocking chairs at one of the three Vincentian Senior Communities.

The Nittany Lion was joined by Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik, the Pirate Parrot, Mr. McFeely of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood fame, and many other local celebrities, elected officials, and mascots.

Admissions Counselor Tony Gomez accompanied the lion to the event.  He said, “At Penn State Greater Allegheny, we value the opportunity to give back to the community.  It is an honor to be able to help our fellow organizations.  We had a great time bringing smiles to the residents of the Vincentian homes.”

Vincentian Collaborative System is a not-for-profit health care and human services organization that coordinates three senior care communities in the Greater Pittsburgh area – Vincentian Home, Vincentian de Marillac, and Marian Manor. They offer a continuum of care for more than 500 seniors, including independent living, personal care, memory care, short-term rehabilitation and skilled nursing.
