MONT ALTO, Pa. — State Rep. Paul Schemel, R-Franklin, will host a town hall meeting at Penn State Mont Alto during which Nicholas Pyeatt, Penn State Altoona associate professor of political science, will speak on the topic of the United States Electoral College and presidential elections.
The public is encouraged to attend the free event, which will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, in the General Studies Auditorium, located at 1 Campus Drive in Mont Alto.
Pyeatt, who has recently provided political analysis to WTAJ-TV in Altoona, the Pittsburgh Post- Gazette and the Huffington Post, joined Penn State Altoona in 2010, where he teaches a variety of American politics courses. He has published several articles and manuscripts, and presents regularly at academic conferences. Most recently, Pyeatt was invited to speak at Penn State’s Center for American Political Responsiveness on the topic of “Party Unity, Ideology and Polarization in Primary Elections, 1956-2015.”
He holds a doctorate and a master of arts in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor of arts in political science and history from Austin College.
