Nine new faculty and staff members join Penn State Lehigh Valley

Penn State Lehigh Valley has announced the following new faculty and staff hires:

Ann Bebout has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a part-time instructor in geology. Bebout earned a doctorate of philosophy from Rice University, as well as a master of education from Lehigh University and a bachelor of science from Texas Christian University. She had previously served as an adjunct professor at Kutztown University and Lafayette College. Bebout resides in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.

Becky Guman has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a business development associate for Lehigh Valley LaunchBox and career services. Guman earned a bachelor of arts in social psychology from Lehigh University. She had previously served as an account management senior specialist at CEB in Arlington, Virginia. Guman resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Nichola Gutgold has returned to Penn State Lehigh Valley as a professor of communication arts and sciences. Gutgold earned a doctorate of speech communication from Penn State, as well as a master of arts in speech communication from Bloomsburg University and a bachelor of arts in mass communications from King’s College. Her current research focuses on the rhetoric of Hillary Clinton’s 2008 and 2016 presidential bids. Gutgold had previously served as associate dean of academic affairs of Penn State’s Schreyer Honors College, where she led the academic department. She resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Jane Silver-Hoff has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as a part-time instructor in anatomy and physiology. Hoff earned a master of science in nursing from the University of Pennsylvania as well as a certificate of nurse-midwifery from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing and a bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Miami. She had previously served as a substitute teacher and nurse at Saucon Valley High School and as varsity head coach of the girls’ lacrosse team. Hoff resides in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Maung K. Min has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as director of business programs and business faculty. Min earned a doctorate of business administration from Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, as well as a master of business administration from Baruch College and a master of science in chemical engineering from Manhattan College. He had previously served as corporate director at Bristol Myers Squibb Company in Princeton, New Jersey, and as an adjunct associate professor at Baruch College in New York. Min resides in the Princeton, New Jersey, area.

Ilyse Resnick has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as an assistant professor of psychology. Resnick earned a doctorate of philosophy in brain and cognitive sciences, specializing in neuroscience from Temple University, as well as a teaching in higher education certificate from Temple University and a bachelor of science in psychology from Lebanon Valley College. She had previously served as IES postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Delaware. Resnick resides in North Wales, Pennsylvania.

Christi A. Rutkowski has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as an instructor in yoga. Rutkowski earned an associate’s degree from Lehigh Carbon Community College. She has been teaching yoga since 2002 and has continued her education in yoga with yearly retreats and workshops as well as studying in India. Rutkowski had previously taught classes at Lehigh University, Muhlenberg College and Cedar Crest College and was previously an adjunct professor of yoga at Lehigh Carbon Community College. She lives in the Lehigh Valley.

Kelley A. Schlie has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as the LGBTQ programming consultant. Schlie earned a master of education in higher education student affairs administration from Kutztown University and a bachelor of psychology from Lehigh University. She completed a fall internship at Lehigh University in the Office of Gender Violence Education and Support and spent this past spring semester interning with Penn State Lehigh Valley in the Office of Student Life. Schlie currently resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Don Somers has joined Penn State Lehigh Valley as facilities manager. Somers earned HVAC training from Richmond Technical Center, refrigeration certification from Ferris State University, along with various other certificates and training in related fields. He had previously served as manager of maintenance services at Penn State Berks in Reading. Somers resides in Frackville, Pennsylvania.
