CARLISLE, Pa. — Carolyn Salazar recently joined the staff of the Office of Development and Alumni Affairs at Dickinson Law as associate director of development.

Salazar works closely with Interim Dean Gary Gildin and Director of Development and Alumni Affairs Kelly Rimmer in the strategic expansion of Dickinson Law’s fundraising program. As a frontline fundraiser who assists with engaging alumni and friends as partners in supporting Dickinson Law, Salazar’s duties include identifying, cultivating and soliciting prospective annual and major gift donors; building relationships and communicating with alumni and donors; assisting with planning, executing, and evaluating solicitation strategies and campaign activities; researching and analyzing data on graduates and other key constituencies; and growing annual participation and dollar goals.

“I’m very excited to begin this next chapter of my career at Dickinson Law,” noted Salazar. “I’m looking forward to getting to know the institution as a whole and developing engaging relationships with alumni.”

Salazar brings nearly nine years of experience in fundraising to her new role, having previously worked as the assistant director for institutional advancement at St. John’s University in Queens, New York, where she managed a donor portfolio of 200-300 companies, oversaw the vendor solicitation program for the university’s premier scholarship fundraiser, and assisted with alumni reunion events and departmental event fundraising. While at St. John’s, Salazar also served as an adjunct professor of English, teaching business writing and global literature courses.

“We are excited to welcome Carolyn to the Dickinson Law community,” said Rimmer. “Her experience, passion for higher education, and ability to easily connect with others will be of great value as we work to broaden our alumni engagement efforts and reinvigorate our fundraising program. I know our alumni will enjoy the opportunity to work with Carolyn.”

Salazar earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Iona College; a master's in school counseling and an advanced certificate in Caribbean and Latin American studies from St. John’s University; and she is pursuing a doctor of philosophy in English from St. John’s.
