Budgeting fundamentals workshop for students, staff, faculty on July 20

Workshop is free and open to the public

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Budgeting lies at the foundation of every financial plan and is never only about money — it is mostly about making smart financial choices.

"Budgeting Fundamentals," a workshop for students, faculty and staff, will be offered from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, in the Mann Assembly Room of Paterno Library, University Park. The workshop is free and open to the public.

Penn State Financial Literacy Manager Daad Rizk will simplify budgeting to five easy-to-follow steps, and share simple strategies to help attendees evaluate and better manage finances, including tips on handling debt and setting short- and long-term goals using the SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely) model.

For more information or if you anticipate needing accommodations or have questions about the physical access provided, contact Lauren Reiter, at lmr29@psu.edu or 814-865-4414, in advance of your participation.

The presentation is part of Money Counts: A Financial Literacy Series, a collaborative effort of the Penn State Commission for Adult Learners and the University Libraries. Visit the Financial Literacy website at http://financialliteracy.psu.edu/.
