Penn State Executive Programs to offer supply chain course next month in Chicago

June 17, 2016

Supply chain practitioners in the Chicago metro area and throughout the Midwest will have unique access to the Penn State Smeal College of Business’ top-ranked supply chain expertise at the 2016 International Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA) Supply Chain Technology Conference and Expo (SCTECH) from July 19-21 at the Navy Pier in Chicago.

The college’s award-winning executive education provider, Penn State Executive Programs, will offer “Achieving Supply Chain Transformation” from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 19-20.

The course is designed for practitioners, technology leaders, engineers, operations managers and executives who want to accelerate organizational change and create supply chain operating models for business performance.

“Achieving Supply Chain Transformation” is part of a portfolio of certificate-track supply chain programs typically offered at Penn State’s University Park campus. Conference attendees can save on travel costs and will receive the same top-ranked curriculum — taught by the same faculty — at a reduced price.

During the two-day course, attendees will learn:

  • How supply chain design supports business imperatives;
  • The links between supply chain performance and key financial statements;
  • Capabilities, strategies, and a new operating model for supply chain transformation;
  • How to overcome barriers to driving change and creating a more productive “can-do” culture;
  • Practical resiliency techniques for business processes during market uncertainty.

The course will be taught by three supply chain experts — academics and practitioners — who have each mastered large-scale industry challenges.

Participation in the workshop will earn attendees a certificate of attendance from Penn State’s Center for Supply Chain Research, one of the nation’s leading institutions dedicated to research and education in the field of logistics, and Penn State Executive Programs. Attendance also completes the first step of three toward earning a full Professional Certificate of Supply Chain Leadership.

Gartner Inc. has ranked Smeal No. 1 in its rankings of U.S. supply chain education providers. Penn State Executive Programs has been awarded the Gold Award for Excellence in Academic Partnerships the last two years and three of the past four years by Chief Learning Officer magazine.

In addition to the workshop, Penn State will exhibit at Booth 722, providing information on all of Smeal’s supply chain management offerings, including undergraduate, online masters, master of business administration, Center for Supply Chain Research, and Penn State Executive Programs.

Attendees can register for “Achieving Supply Chain Transformation” online. A ticket to the class provides access to all aspects of the event: the conference, the expo, the career and hiring fair, etc. For more information, visit www.sctechshow.com/why-attend/.
