Penn State Lehigh Valley helping to make a house a home

Donation drive to help local youths in need

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), Penn State Lehigh Valley’s chapter of the National Communication Association’s honor society, will be holding a donation drive on Tuesday, April 19, and Thursday, April 21. The drive will take place from noon to 5 p.m. on these days near the second-floor student lounge.

LPH has partnered with Valley Youth House to acquire donations necessary for the Lehigh Valley Shelter to continue helping local youths in need. The nonprofit Valley Youth House provides not only a home to youths between the ages of 12 to 17, but also offers family and group counseling, life skills education, recreational activities, and therapeutic and aftercare services.

The Lehigh Valley Shelter is currently looking for new donations of the following:

  • arts and craft supplies
  • new kitchen towels and wash cloths
  • new bed pillows
  • new socks and underwear

Stop by the second-floor table and donate to the Lehigh Valley Youth House Shelter through Penn State Lehigh Valley and LPH. If someone wants to donate and cannot make it to campus on these scheduled days, contact Shannon Ortiz, LPH president, at sod5112@psu.edu.

Penn State Leigh Valley’s LPH chapter is one of 400 chapters around the country that honors scholastic achievement in the communication discipline and encourages networking and community relations among members.
